art time: now, I can see.

painting while I have free time is my new favorite thing.  I wanted to challenge myself by wearing a blindfold during the painting process.

"Now, I Can See" by Christine Jessica, all acrylic

I expected the result to turn out horribly, as this was my first try doing something like this. however, I think I like it!

I started by picking out my colors and putting them onto my palette. I put on my blindfold right after laying out my brushes. thankfully, I put down a ton of scrap paper on my floor before starting. I didn't want to make a huge mess!

I know this sounds obscene, but I would take off my blindfold every time I'd switch colors. I don't have an eidetic memory. (sadly, right?) my first goal was to create a beige square in the center of the paper.

then, I proceeded to paint swatches of colors. I used my free hand to try to "judge" the placement of the paper, so I could keep some lines even and spread throughout.

I titled this art "Now, I Can See". I believe we take our abilities for granted. sometimes - we have eyes and forget to use them. I have a friend who is blind, and is beyond talented. I absolutely applaud him. he can do everything, and he doesn't need to rely on sight. this piece shows that when you close your eyes, your mind can work on its own.

your talent doesn't always come from your sight. allow your brain to try, and it will do.
