book two, coming soon!

I honestly cannot believe I'm nearly finished with writing my second poetry collection. my first book, Roses in SoHo, just came out in April of this year. I was planning on taking a break from writing for a few months because I don't like "forcing" my work, but that hiatus only lasted a decent two weeks.

for the past two years, I've been writing an average of two to three poems a day. how well my first book has been doing definitely inspired the fact that I've been writing five poems on some days.

I'm starting up my first year of college next month, and I'm very excited about that. I know I'll be busy with schoolwork during the year, so I'm planning on working the rest of this Summer on this book. I'll always find the time to create new material, but that doesn't make school any less important.

I can't wait to share all of the details with you about book two, but for now, this is what I can tell you!

after constantly going back and forth between title names, I've decided to name this collection This Second Layer. this book will be filled both front and back with poems, unlike my first book. I'm also including a larger mixture of prose. the plan is for it to be approximately 150 pages, and I've completed 110 in my draft.

I don't have a date set yet for the final release. while I want the final draft to be finished before or near the start of school, I want to take a little more time proofreading.

"you tried to peel away my skin, but you reminded me I have a second layer."

I've shown a few of my friends and family some of the material in this book, and they've said it feels more personal than the first. I'm putting more thought into each poem, compared to my previous work. even though this is the second book, it does not coincide with book one. you can read this selection, even if you haven't read the other! it's a completely different mood.

what I've written in This Second Layer, so far, is my personal favorite. I really hope my writing style has improved. I feel myself evolving as a person, and my poetry seems to be mirroring that. The Answer is Raspberry and Disaster are my two picks.

my book will be available on on the release date. it will also be available for purchase through Amazon Canada, UK, and France! it will be up for sale through other companies as well, but it's probable to be at a later date.

thank you so much for reading! if you have any questions, please let me know. I'm very excited to keep you up-to-date! book one, Roses in SoHo, is available now through Barnes & Noble. (click here)
