My Writing Routine.

I write poetry approximately three times a day, and I've done this religiously for the past two years. Writing has always been my favorite pastime. I've been asked what my routine is everyday, so here are my tips and tricks on how I'm able to write so much!

GO TO PLACES AND WRITE.

Coffee shops and bookstores are my favorite whereabouts to sit down and think of ideas. Go to places that "set the mood" and have no distractions. You can't really do much at a cafe besides sit down, eat, and write in your journal, so it's perfect!

A CUP OF COFFEE MAKES THE DIFFERENCE.

I'm not really sure why, (I'm kidding - it's the caffeine) but drinking a cup of coffee whenever I'm writing always boosts my creativity. Drink your favorite tea, eat your favorite snack, all while writing - if you keep your body happy, that includes your mind.

DON'T FORCE YOURSELF TO SET UP TIMES TO WRITE.

I usually write periodically throughout the day, but I don't have set times. For example, I don't always write at 11 AM. I only write poetry when I feel like it. If I force myself, it reflects in my work.

ALWAYS QUALITY OVER QUANTITY.

Don't try to write ten poems when you only have ideas for three. I'd much prefer writing one great poem, then multiple about the same thing!

START AN IDEA LIST.

This is my best advice to you- I have a journal that I specifically use just to write down little ideas for poems that I have. It doesn't have to be an entire poem, I usually write down a few words or a sentence. It's perfect to use when you want to write, but can't brainstorm any awesome ideas.

GET INSPIRATION BY LOOKING THROUGH YOUR OLD WORK.

I've been writing since I was eleven, and you could only imagine how terrible some of those poems are. I love reading my old work, and advancing it by giving it more detail. Little Christine definitely had nice ideas, but didn't word them correctly.

Thank you so much for reading, I hope I helped in some way!
